Jacqueline Fernandez hails from Manama in Bahrain. She grew up within an ethnically diverse family. Jacqueline's father Elroy is Sri Lankan (Catholic Sinhalese) and her mother Kim, a Malaysian. She is the younger of two sisters and one older brother. Parents moved to Bahrain during the 1980s because of the Lankan tensions and she was born and raised in Bahrain. The scholarship she received allowed her to go to an undergraduate program at the University of Sydney in Sydney Australia, after completing her schooling in Bahrain. With a love of the world of languages and cultures, she took part in the Berlitz school of languages, in which she was able to learn Spanish and improve her French and Arabic. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 won Miss Universe 2006 competition in March 2006. She also was also crowned Miss Universe 2006 also. Following her victory in 2006, Miss Sri Lanka win, Padukone stepped into the world of television and hosted a program about Sri Lankan businesses called Lanka Business Report. Padukone has a daughter with badminton star Prakash Padukone. She was raised in Bangalore and was born in Copenhagen. In her teens she competed in badminton championships at national level. However, she left the sport in order to make a profession as designer. Padukone comes from Mangalore and her native language is Konkani. Padukone is located within the Kundapura Taluk of Karnataka's Udupi District. The father of her, Prakash Padukone, is an ex-badminton player with world-class fame, while her mother works as a travel agent.
